Jess Wright, she/her
Iām an educator, licensed therapist, and mental health advocate. I have a BA in Psychology and Master of Social Work, and am currently pursuing my Ph.D. in Human Sexuality from Widener University. My professional experience includes working in residential treatment with juvenile sex offenders, supportive housing for teenagers, and providing therapy to children, adults, and families in a variety of settings.
My teaching experience includes being a Certified Youth Mental Health First Aid instructor, and I have trained groups on suicide prevention and how to respond during a mental health concern or crisis. Additionally, while living in Phoenix, Arizona, I was an adjunct professor, and my course focused on the importance of advocacy and activism in the community.
Through professional and personal experiences, I recognized the need for further sexuality education, especially between children and their parents/caregivers. My mission as an educator is to create a safe and inclusive environment for all, in addition to providing skills that can be applied and knowledge that can help deepen self-awareness. I am supportive, validating, and empowering. I encourage my students to ask questions, and I aim to be a sounding board and guide to aid my students in learning more about their bodies, their relationships, and themselves. In my free time, I enjoy playing Animal Crossing, watching baking shows, listening to podcasts, and spending time with my two pets and partner.
